The 26th Conference on the History of Management Thought and Business
Conference theme: Russian Management Thought in the 20th and 21st Centuries
June 30–July 1, 2026
Within the framework of the conference, the history of management thought is understood as the process of the emergence, development, contestation, and replacement of ideas, theories, approaches, and concepts related to the management of organizations and their functional areas in a specific historical context.
In the logic of the conference, historical research in management is understood as an analysis of how management ideas changed over time under the influence of economic, social, political, cultural, and other conditions.
For this reason, particular value is attached to papers that demonstrate the dynamics of ideas, the relationship between management thought and practice, and the use of sources ranging from monographs and articles to archival documents, letters, diaries, and normative legal acts.
It is important to note that even a localized analysis of personnel, strategic, organizational, governmental, and other aspects of management already constitutes a meaningful contribution to the history of management thought, provided that it shows how ideas about management changed over time.
The reconstruction of the specific historical context of these changes adds further value to such research, but it is not mandatory.
Theme of the 26th Conference: Russian Management Thought in the 20th and 21st Centuries
The objects of historical research in management will be materials and documents presenting viewpoints, ideas, concepts, theories, and scholarly schools that reflect the emergence, development, contestation, and replacement of ideas, as well as scholarly and applied approaches to management in Russia in the 20th and 21st centuries.
