XXII International Conference on the History of Management Thought and Business «Development of views on regional economic management in the countries of the world: history and modernity»
Dear colleagues!
It has become a tradition for Russian and foreign theorists and practitioners of management to take part in annual International conferences on the History of Management Thought and Businesses (HMT&B), held by the Lomonosov Moscow State University in order to discuss various important issues in Management.
Over the years, 21 conferences have been held on the following topics:

- “Management and roles of managers: yesterday-today-tomorrow” (2019)
- «Measurability in the Management of Social Objects: yesterday, today, tomorrow" (2021)
As stated in our textbook "History of Management Thought" (Springer, 2021), the administrative beginning of this problem was very acute in the era of Ancient Greek policies, many wars and territorial redistributions, when the "Police management model" appeared, which was used by managers for more than 2500 years.
But these problems existed and still exist today in the USA, Australia, Germany, Spain, Italy, the former USSR, the former and current Russia, and in many other countries of the world. That is why, for the first time in the history of our conferences, we chose regional topics for discussion. And at the HMT&B-2022 conference, we would like to know:
- about the history of problems of economic management of regions in the countries of the world,
- about the factors and causes of their occurrence and
- about points of view, concepts and scientific views on the identification, analysis and resolution of these problems.
Still adhering to our formula: “Any New is a New combination of the Old in New conditions!”, we encourage colleagues to take part in the HMT&B-2022 conference and to share new knowledge and experience in the field of the Conference topic with illustrations of experiments that have been held in the History of Management, and with the results and evaluations of similar studies in the History of Managerial Thought.
Hence, a number of questions formulated below, to which we expect answers at the upcoming HMT&B-2022 conference in the context of "Management of economy of the regions in different countries of the world in different specific historical periods":
- How and Why did the ideas and concepts of the system and complex (aspect) approaches in the management of regional economies arise and develop?
- How were the aspect characteristics of management manifested and taken into account (economic, political, legal, demographic, ecological, etc.) at different stages of the life cycle of ideas and views on the management of regional economies?
- How and Why did the views on the relationship of the participants (actors) in the processes of managing the regional economies change?
- What are the factors, reasons and features of the concepts of anti-crisis management of regional economies?
- How and Why did the views on the provision of management processes of regional economies with various kinds of resources change?
- How was the specifics of the sectoral approach reflected in the concepts of regional economic management?
- How and Why did the reasons for the differentiation of management objects and powers between the federal and regional levels of regional economic management change?
- How and in What “languages” (economic, political, demographic, ecological, socio-cultural, ethical, etc.) were the results of managing conflict and / or crisis situations measured and evaluated in the process of managing regional economies?
- How and Why did the views on the staffing of the processes of managing the economy of the regions change?
- What roles were played by regional managers of different industries and business sizes in different countries of the world in different specific historical periods? And how have these roles changed? Why?
- What were the ideas for the formation of the competencies of regional managers? Who and how has trained and/or taught regional managers in the past? How were the ideas tested? Why did the “training” programs change?
